I just saw this pop up on my feed and had to watch. I suspected my jack Russell terrior may have had this . I took her to the vet they did blood test, urine test , basically told me she fine. She had all the symptoms from drinking lots and lots of water and constantly peeing, the pop belly, and thinning fur especially on her under side, and her tail. She was about 15 almost 16 years old she died about a month later 😢 Lucy was my soul dog, my bestest friend, she went everywhere i went. I have other pets that i love very much and do everything i can to provide for them and give them everything they need and want, but Lucy was that once in a lifetime dog she was just her spicy little self, and she believed she was 100 times bigger than she was, very smart, very stubborn, very mischievous when she felt like it but also the most loyal and loving girl ever. Oh how i wish i would have seen this video july 2023 , if i had i may have been able to save her , because she was very healthy even her teeth all them pearly white and she had never been sick in all her years, well except for the 2 times she swallowed a rock from my coffe tsble display which is beyond me how she even swallowed it not once but 2 different times it was fairly big especially for her size, yes she finally threw it up after sitting up with her all night on 2 separate times and i got rid of that display. I now watch lots of your videos always staying on look out for medical issues , treatments, and all your great advice and it has come in handy on multiple occasions. I try to learn and self educate as much as possible for my pets and myself because i do not ever want something like that to happen ever again to my pets or anything bad if i can prevent and or get them the proper veterinarian care.
P.S. yes, i immediately switched doctor's after she died, and have since learned how to better pick a doctor for my dog's and cats.
    Thank you Dr. Jones

My dogs been losing his fur, the vet said it was allergies and an infection some she prescribed him prednisone. After a couple days of taking it he’s been water logging himself, peeing on the floor, he walks a few steps and flops over now he can’t even stand up straight. We think he has cushings disease cause steroids like prednisone increase cortisol. We have to lift his hind legs up for him to stand so he can pee also he refuses to eat.

My dog (8 year old, husky mix) was recently diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatitis just 2 days later. I fear she might have cushing’s disease due to having all of the symptoms. We are struggling with vet bills right now, and I’m not sure if we can afford another test. Would it be harmful to use any of these remedies if she hasn’t been diagnosed yet? Could the supplements help either way? Thank you so much for making this video!

I find this fascinating. I am a dog groomer and the dog and I live in fight or flight with the avoidance stage being what I call – The Dance! I have a pituitary tumour myself…I'm fine, just hormones a bit outta whack. It has been measured and did shrink at one point…was monitoring awhile back. I've speculated my career has so much to do with not only that but the nodules in my throat. Thyroid is also impacted on stress levels…after 3 decades grooming I do my best to not let the stressful parts get to me but as I always say "I know this is a career but my body does not!!" Constant fight or flight, even with the best coping skills, seeking understanding and gleaning wisdom cannot overcome the body's primal, visceral innate ability to do it's best to keep you safe, and alive… in that moment. Always learning about our brains, vagas nerve and the gut. Its all in the gut before it even reaches the brain. So cool!! I don't get bit as a result of my ability to teach a dog to read my energy so they can be brave. If I'm not courageous, stable and in control and trust myself…. then how can I expect for them to face their fear through fight of flight and trust me?? Its an amazing connection and I love what I do…especially, rehabilitating the most fearful. Now, this has me wondering if the grooming process for these smaller, furrier dogs could be a causational link to altering DNA? Wouldn't be surprised with that at all….epigenetics. Whole new can opened there!! Anyway… I came here looking for information on the causes as I thought early spay/neutering was one of them…perhaps, I'm mistaken and that is Addison's.

My Springer Spaniel is 1 1/2 years old unspayed with spay scheduled mid-April. She has been having grand mal seziures since her 1 year vet appointment in Oct 2024 among other symptoms and has now been diagnosed with cushing’s disease as of today. This was my guess over the last couple of months and finally a vet was able to diagnose. She is so young and we are waiting on her neurology appointment next week. Have you seen this in dogs this young?

Thank you for your tutorial. I am a naturopathic physician and have a 14 year old beagle who will be tested for Cushings disease next week. I am having him tested to rule out Cushings disease because I believe he suffers from anxiety, which can mimic Cushings symptoms, especially elevated cortisol levels and restlessness. I also agree that it is not always necessary to use strong medications (especially steroids) to treat any disease or condition but to first consider a safer approach with either herbal supplements, vitamins, or homeopathy.

Thank you- this was very helpful. My 40 lb dog drinks 8-12 cups water/day and heavy and fast breathing with or without panting. Also leg/ back issues – but maybe because of abdominal pain?
Blood test, X-ray and CT didn't help to get a diagnosis. Now knowing 4 cups of water would be sufficient, I'll mention Cushing's yD to my vet

Brad Prana (Prana Pets) i found this tablet for helping dog's side effects from Cushings. Passed it by my Vet she said, YES! So we been on it now for 6 mos. No Uncontrollable Urination and Panting! It wont save her. But at least those side effects wont inhibit her.

My dog has CHF and pulmonary hypertension. She started lasix, enalapril, and sildenafil two weeks ago. She has been doing wonderfully! However I noticed this week she has been hungrier than normal. I want so badly to be happy that my dog is hungry and playful but now I’m worried about Cushings. She is peeing and drinking more, but I assumed it was bc of the diuretic she’s on. She does have some fluid on her belly as seen in her X-rays which is why we started the lasix. I suppose my question is, should I suspect cushings? She’s almost 16 I don’t want to put her through any tests 🙁

So i have a samoyed, ive noticed an increase in water consumption and urination. However every other symptom hes had for his whole life, since a puppy, im scared to get a misdiagnosis. His hair is fine, no sores or skin issues. He has always panted all the time since a puppy, and has always had shakey legs. How do i get straight to the proper testing to figure it out? I think if i tell them these symptoms they will jump to conclusions, and not understand hes trembled, panted and kinda had a belly for 5+ years now. But the increased drinking has been noticeable.

Thank you Dr for your advice. My 9 year old little furbaby was diagnosed with everything else before they discovered it was cushings. He had the excessive drinking, urination, panting, eating and bloated tummy. These symptoms just came out of the blue, oneday he is fine and the next he has all these symptoms. At my 3rd visit to the vet, I forced them to do xrays and blood tests and I told them to check for cushings. He has been on meds but I noticed that after the antibiotics finished, the bloating started again. Please can you advise what can assist with the bloating. Thank you 🙏

7:04 – my dog seems to match your symptoms of manageable / mild… apart from the excessive hunger. I’m taking her for a low dose test tomorrow. If she is diagnosed, would you consider increased appetite to qualify her as an advanced case requiring medication?

My dog is 12, was diagnosed . But my vet at first said, he doesn’t have a lot symptoms so let’s wait . We recently did blood work and urine exam. She said she will want to begin treatment. My dog has been having seizures . It’s devastating . He’s only been on the medication for 5 days .

I found in my news paper a pure breed Siberia Husky who was used for breeding and she is 9 years old and blind but I love her from the very first time I saw her and brought her home with me. I took her to my Veterinarian and I told him she was drinking a lot of water but the water was thick and slimy so he ran some tests and he said she has Cushing’s disease and diabetes so I don’t have a lot of money and I knew she and my Baxter would be getting shots and fixed and just to keep them healthy so I took my retirement out to pay off my cards and pay off my bills and have enough to take care of Meeka and Baxter. Well that went quick but now I have pills for Cushing’s that’s $118.00, insulin $24.42 and $45.00 for syringes and what I want to know is what’s a good food for Meeka because I give her a grain free dry food and a mix of vegetables with one raw egg in the morning and I put water on it because she has a hard time eating because of her Cushing’s . She takes one Vetoryl 60mg. and two shots of Novolin N 100 units one in the morning and one at night . I want to feed both of them but I’m afraid to give her something that will make her sick. Can you please send me a diet because her belly gets big and hard and im afraid she’s going to get sick

Thank you so much for all your videos, help and wisdom to make the best choices for our pets! My dog was just diagnosed with cushings disease in june 2024. Our Beagle/ Bull is almost 10 yrs.We have chosen to forgo big pharma and do a more natural route. My wish is that you would make an updated video on cushings, as yours was several years ago ,including supplementing fresh whole foods with kibble that is cushings compatable with portions. Also updated alternative medicines. Currently we have our dog on CushAway. If there is something better would love to know! Thank you again, for all you do !!!❤

I do need some advice for my 11-year-old dog. Her Cushing's seems to have progressed do excessive panting at night, to the point that you can hear her through the wall (my son's input). I am starting her on melatonin now, after having given her Trilostane for 1.5 month's which resulted in excessive water drinking (more than normal consumption), and mild seizure and collapse that ended her in the emergency unit. They told me it's the Cushing's but after I stopped the meds reading up on the side-effects the excessive drinking, and other symptoms stopped. The panting is a big problem as well as just in general deciding if it is time to let her go because of this because I am concerned about her breathing and brain function. If I can have some input it will be appreciated.
